How Does the KVAR © Energy Saving Device Work?
The KVAR© Energy Saving Device reduces the amount of power drawn from the utility by storing the otherwise lost electricity in its capicitors. Some examples of inductive motors are Air Conditioning units, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, pool pumps, vacuum cleaners, furnace blower motors, fans etc.) The technology applied by the KVAR© Electric Saving Device supplies the stored electricity back to your inductive loads, thus causing you to decrease your demand from the utility. If you decrease your demand from the utility, your meter slows down, and you use less electricity. Because you have already paid for that electricity...why pay for it and waste it...when you can pay for it, store it, and reuse it again. This whole process is called Power Factor Optimization. Clean up the Voltage and Optimize the Current, and do it with a complete SYSTEM…. Ultimately, you will save money!
Does the KVAR © Energy Saving Device work in any home?
Yes it does, as long as you have a circuit breaker panel with breaker switches and not an old screw in type fuse box. The unit will work on any single-phase electric application for homes.
Will the KVAR © Electric Saving Device affect any of my appliances and their normal use?
No. Your appliance motors will run approximately 10% cooler, which is great for a motor because heat is the enemy.
What is Power Factor?
Power factor is the percentage of electricity that’s delivered to your house and used effectively, compared to what is wasted. For example, a 1.0 power factor means that all the electricity that’s being delivered to your home is being used effectively for its purpose. However, most homes in America today have a .77 power factor or less. This means that 77% of the electricity that is coming thru your meter at your home or business is being used effectively, the other 23% is being wasted by your inductive load. With a low power factor, the utility has to deliver more electricity to do the same work. However, the KVAR© Energy Saving Device increases that power factor in most cases to .97 or .98, thus increasing the effective use of your electricity and lowering your usage. LOWER ENERGY USAGE = LOWER ELECTRIC BILLS !!!
Is the KVAR © Energy Saving Device tested and approved by Independent Labs?
Yes, the KVAR© Energy Saving Device is UL listed and tested, and has also been tested by the University of Santa Clara California’s Electrical Engineering department, of which the results of that test are available on our website. Also, the technology is recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy
How much can I expect to save per month by using KVAR ©?
That depends on several factors. The size of your home, the amount of inductive motor load, and the amount you are paying per kilowatt-hour for electricity etc. However, generally speaking, users of the product have seen up to 30% in reduced consumption, but the average savings is somewhere between 6% to 25% savings on your electric bill.
Is the KVAR © unit easy to install?
We recommend installation by an electrician. The unit comes with complete installation instructions. The complete electrical saving device installs in about 20-30 minutes and can be installed indoors or out. It is usually placed right next to your main electrical panel or sub-panel, it connects via a 20 amp Double Pole breaker.
How long will the KVAR © unit last?
It has a predicted lifespan of over 20 years
Is the KVAR© Unit Warranted?
Yes, 12 year Manufacturers Warranty for full replacement on Residential Unit. We also have a 5 Year Manufacturers Warranty on the Commercial and Industrial Units.
What About KVAR © Surge Protection?
There are many types of electrical disruptions. This includes transients, surges, sags and swells. The KVAR Energy Controllers (KVAR ECs™) are capacitors and as such, when these spikes come in, they appear for a very short duration, appearing as a high frequency. Capacitors draw more amps at higher frequencies. As a result, there will be a lot more amps drawn from spike. This alone is not an effective surge suppressor. To get rid of these spikes, it would be better to get a TVSS (Transient Voltage and Surge Suppressor).

Many have insurance policies that will cover equipment destroyed while the protector is in place. Do your own research. The KVAR EC™ will help with situations where the lights flicker when an inductive load turns on. The KVAR EC™ will help provide energy for the inrush of amps. If you have such flickers, they will be reduced or eliminated.
